Blooms Around the Nursery

Hurricane Harvey has just left Houston and is on his way leaving yet another path of destruction.  It is so horrible and so sad what he leaves behind but to see all the people of Houston come together as they have along with people from all over has been overwhelming.  I am from Houston and have family and friends there whom have been affected in one way or another.  It is a helpless feeling to be here unable to do anything to help.  Restless energy has led me to post some pretty blooms that have been blooming lately.  Hope you enjoy.
Succulent Bloom
Succulent blooms always make me happy.
Coral Bean
The Coral Bean blooms are divine!
Tecoma
 Good ol' Yellow Bells.
Vitex

Mexican Olive
I love how delicate and subtle the Mexican Olive are.
Althea Rose of Sharon
And last but not least the Althea, Rose of Sharon.
Be safe everyone and sending any and all affected by Harvey prayers and good wishes.

Blooms at the Nursery

Well, I missed GBBD, sorry, so thought I'd share the blooms at the nursery as of late.
Hope you enjoy!!
Althea
The Althea are blooming like crazy.
Lantana
The butterflies are everywhere- sometimes I feel like my Instagram account is a butterfly watch.
Cereus
The Cereus are always neat I think- this one has three blooms on it.
Grevillea
I love the Greveillea 'Peaches and Cream' - such an unusual bloom.
Palo Verde Desert Museum
The Palo Verde trees are always pretty to me even without blooms- I love the green bark.
Pomegranate
This was a first for me- two on one.  I posted this on Facebook and a customer posted one on hers as well- guess it isn't that rare but I'd never seen it!
Pride of Barbados
The Pride of Barbados equals summer in Austin to me.  Love these blooms!
Sticks of Fire
The 'Sticks of Fire' are always fun- they change colors in the winter but are equally as impressive in the summer.
Tecoma
And last but not least, a Tecoma, this is the 'Lydia' which is a bit more compact and softer yellow.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

Where Does The Time Go?

John Fanick Phlox
I am sitting here on June 30th in disbelief that tomorrow is JULY!
Where does the time go? I am posting some photos of things that I have taken the time to stop and photograph as of late. The 'John Fanick' Phlox always has a showy bloom cluster.
Silver ponyfoot
This is a pot that I feel has filled out nicely by the front door of the office.  I love the Ponyfoot with the blue pot.  Year after year whatever I put in here I seem to always go for the Ponyfoot as my spiller.
Salvia Amistad
Here is a shot of a little hummingbird having a little snack.  They LOVE this Salvia 'Amistad'; by far one of their favorites.
Althea
The Althea are bursting with blooms- lavender and white - I think I prefer the lavender…..
Althea

 Lady Slippers
The Lady Slippers never disappoint.  They are so neat I think- so intricate.
Hibiscus
Good ol' Hibiscus.  Who doesn't love a hibiscus?
Night Blooming Cereus
The Night Blooming Cereus- Peruvian Apple- have never tasted one but going to research if I can….
And last but not least…. had to share.  We saw Blake Shleton- Incredible show. Neal McCoy opened up and The Band Perry were there- all the performers were amazing.  Great show- first time out there to the 360 amphitheater.  Will definitely go back!
If you can believe it I still have Cyclamen in a big pot on my porch.  I did not get a photo but I do- they are red and they are blooming.  Crazy.  Who knew.  Cyclamen in June.  The weather has been really nice lately, not a single 100 degree day yet.  I for one am enjoying it. And the rain!!  The rain we have been having is wonderful!!!!!!  (At least here, I know some in other cities / states are not feeling the same about rain as of late…).
Hope everyone had a wonderful June and has a fabulous 4th of July!!!!
