Spring is Near

Spring is near here in Austin, Tx.  We just finished a little run of freezing weather which was preceded by 78 degree days.  Texas weather.  Nothing like it.  I for one am happy it is over- we might have a little snap in the mid 30's but nothing like we just had.  It registered 21 at the nursery- that's cold for us.  I know our customers and friends from up north laugh at that, but for us, that is really cold.  Especially when we were enjoying such amazing weather days before.  

Posting a few photos I have taken the last few weeks- I admittedly have been bad about posting here and for that I apologize.  I am going to try to be better.  I have been posting on Instagram almost daily - it is just so easy.  @viverogrowers if you do Instagram.

July Blooms at the Nursery

It's July and things are blooming away the nursery.  The butterflies and bees have been everywhere, it is wonderful!!!  Hope you enjoy!!

 The Four Nerve Daisy are bursting with blooms.

Butterflies and Blooms

 Butterflies are everywhere right now at the nursery!

 It has been amazing to see- so many different types of butterflies and they are flying around all over the place.  I have had so much fun taking pictures this week!!

And apologies for missing GBBD!  I was with the butterflies!!

Fall in Austin

So, according to the calendar fall begins in Austin tomorrow.  

We shall see if the weather falls in line with that.

Butterfly Vine - love these- after they bloom they have little seed pods that look like butterflies. Happy fall to everyone- hopefully you are seeing lots of fall color in your area!  Can't wait to pop around to different blogs and go "sight seeing".  

Blooms at the Nursery

Well, I missed GBBD, sorry, so thought I'd share the blooms at the nursery as of late.  

Hope you enjoy!!  

 The Althea are blooming like crazy.

 The butterflies are everywhere- sometimes I feel like my Instagram account is a butterfly watch.

 The Cereus are always neat I think- this one has three blooms on it.  

 I love the Greveillea 'Peaches and Cream' - such an unusual bloom.

 The Palo Verde trees are always pretty to me even without blooms- I love the green bark.

 This was a first for me- two on one.  I posted this on Facebook and a customer posted one on hers as well- guess it isn't that rare but I'd never seen it!

 The Pride of Barbados equals summer in Austin to me.  Love these blooms!

 The 'Sticks of Fire' are always fun- they change colors in the winter but are equally as impressive in the summer.

And last but not least, a Tecoma, this is the 'Lydia' which is a bit more compact and softer yellow.

Happy November GBBD

Can you believe it is November?  Can you believe November is almost over?  Where does the time go I want to know.  Happy November GBBD to everyone. 

 Below are some photos of things that have been blooming lately.  Hope you enjoy.  

 Alright, not a bloom but it looks like a rose bloom, and this is the start of a beautiful Kalanchoe bloom stalk.

 The butterflies have been everywhere.  I have seen so many different varieties this week!

 The Lions Tail are always such a stunning bloom- so unique!

 The Mexican Mint Marigold has a fragrance some love or hate- it's rather strong but wonderful if you like the smell of licorice.  

 Someone just wanted to say hi!

 The Celosia are covered in butterflies.  It is wonderful!!

 The Lantana are always butterfly and bee magnets. 

 Though not a bloom, the Artemesia looks beautiful right now.

The Dragon Fruit bloomed- I can't wait for the fruit!

Happy Garden Bloggers Bloom Day October 2016!

 It might not feel like it here in Austin, but it is fall and the Fall Asters are blooming away along with...

 the Plumbago,

 the Cassia,

and the Lantana, which by the way is a constant favorite of the butterflies.

 The maples are turning a brilliant red.

 The Kalanchoe are getting ready to bloom

And last but not least, Kumquats are ripe and quite delicious!  You can eat these rind and all- there are a few seeds so be careful but they are really good!  Thank you to May Dreams Gardens for hosting GBBD!  Stop by her site to check out gardens from all over!
