There is a definite chill in the air and it is FABULOUS!!!
A cold front rolled in yesterday and is supposed to stick around for a while.  It is so pretty outside right now and feels fantastic.
Before I get to any of the shots I got this morning, I wanted to say a big THANK YOU to J Peterson Garden Design , Rock Rose, and Sharing Nature's Garden for the write up's they did on the nursery!
If you have not read their blog entries on us, please click on their link.
The 'Grassy Lassie' Aloe is stunning.  It has blooms all over it.
The Possumhaw's berries are starting to turn- this is such a very cool tree.  The berries turn red (they have just started to turn, they will get more red) and then they drop their leaves so you have these sticks with berries.  They are similar to the American Beautyberry which does the same thing but those are purple and look more like little grape clusters (also very pretty).
The Ocotillo is mesmerizing to me.  I love the striations on the branches.
The fruit of the Pineapple Guava. I have never tried it but I have heard many people find it tasty.  Maybe this year I will give it a go.
The Pyracantha berries are turning as well.  Like it or not fall is coming, or is here.... just ask the plants. ( I for one am ready! )

  1. Great photos.

I enjoyed their reviews of your nursery. Gotta get over to see you, one of these days. Where does the time go?

How will you handle the cold this weekend? We're thinking it could actually be freezing here in Wimberley Valley. We're usually ten degrees colder than up in Austin. Maybe you don't get as cold where you are.

    Have a good weekend.

  2. Love all your seasonal reds. Yes, it was a lot colder than I thought it would be, mostly due to the wind. I did finally get out and do some weeding! Should be a nice weekend, with no rain of course.

  3. Some of these plants are new to me. That Ocotillo is very interesting! I do love pyracantha, though. I killed the last one I had (in a re-design), but I need to find a place for another. I love that plant.

  4. Jennifer@threedogsinagarden
It is definitely fall here as well. A hard frost carried off all my annuals. It is nice to come here and see some bright colors. I like the perfect fall color of the Pyracantha berries.

  5. Stunning plants. I am sad we are all the way in Massachusetts...otherwise we'd be heading on over!

  6. Linda- Thanks! Love this weather- what a nice change!!!

J/Rock Rose- What great weather for weeding though! I saw your pom post- how fun to have those in the mornings with your breakfast!!!

Holley Garden- The Ocotillo is very neat I agree- it has it time where it really shows off in the spring but I like them the rest of the year as well. They get really large. I think they are neat covered in white lights and lit up at night. I love the pyras as well.

Jennifer- At least you have a "real" fall!!! hahaha. We are heading to Chicago this December to see a "real" winter and get in the holiday spirit. We have to leave town to see the seasons... haha

    Nantucket D- Thanks!!!

  7. I just love your pyracantha berries. I believe I have a male and need to get a female...never any berries.

  8. You have such amazing things growing down south. I love the odd colored branches especially.
