Happy GBBD June 2016!

Happy GBBD!  I still can't believe it is June!  Where does the time go?  We have had a lot of rain here in Austin lately and things are blooming like crazy!  The butterflies are flying around, bees busy working away, hummingbirds zipping around- it has been wonderful!  Here are a few photos of things I felt stood out lately.
Gomphrena
The Gomphrena have such a bright cheerful bloom!
Gregg's mistflower
The butterflies have been all over the Gregg's mistflower.  Too pretty!!
Hydrangea
 Ice Cream anyone?
Butterfly Vine
The Butterfly Vine- old standby.  Love the intricate almost lace like blooms.
Vitex
The Vitex never disappoint.  Tons of color!  So pretty - they are blooming all over town!!
Charity Mahonia
The Charity Mahonia are nice though approach with caution- they are spiky!!
Pedlianthus
The Pedlianthus are loaded with the Lady Slipper blooms, hence the more common name.
These little guys are all over the place.  So sweet.
purple Jerusalem Sage
The verdict is still out for me on the purple Jerusalem Sage.... Can't decide.... I think I prefer the yellow.  Just a bit too subtle for me I think.
Agastache

The Agastache.  If only this were scratch and sniff.......  adore this plant.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!  Where does the time go?!?!  A special thank you to May Dreams Gardens for hosting the GBBD!  Visit her blog to get a glimpse of what is blooming all over the world!  Enjoy!

Happy GBBD!

Happy June GBBD!
A few photos of what's going on around here right now.  Hope you enjoy.
Check out May Dreams Gardens to visit other GBBD posts.
The Lantana are blooming like crazy and have been very popular this week with the bees, butterflies and these little hummingbird moth.  The hummingbird moths are so fun to watch- I got this picture at just the right time-  can see the pollen??
He was completely unfazed by my being there.
This little guy was hanging out on the Yucca when I captured his picture.
He appeared to be sunbathing.
The Mexican Olives are in full bloom right now, as is about everything else out here I might add, and are beautiful.  Honestly, these are one of my favorite trees aside from the Palo Verdes.
The Greggs's Mistflower are blooming away and quite popular with the butterflies.  I have been watching these guys all day.  They are quite content.
Sal is his usual self- here he is hanging out in the Ajuga.
Another fan of the Lantana- this guy has been bouncing around the nursery all day- finally I got him to slow down long enough to get a photo.
Hopefully everything is blooming where you are by now.
The recent rains have been wonderful and the plants are really enjoying it!!!

April Show Off's

What to pick?  Everything is so happy right now and just blooming away.
The White Plumbago are (to me) very classic looking.
The Gregg's mistflower is a new one for me, I like the little soft "puffs".

The butterflies are everywhere as are the bees.  The hummingbirds are zipping around all over the place I guess trying to figure out territory.  I had no idea how territorial they were.  They are such fun little guys to watch.  I love how they just almost hang in the air.
So many shots of these butterflies over everything but they really seem to love the Lantana.  There are tons of them.  It is wild!!
I saw the hummers in the Lion's Tail today- hadn't seen that before.  Not sure if they like it or are trying to figure it out.
The Oak Leaf Hydies are opening up and looking as beautiful as ever.  They remind me of home.
The Palo Verde's are blooming away- the blooms look like little yellow saucers from afar.
The pink on this yucca I think is striking.  A new favorite of mine.
The Duranta are happy as can be and the bee's are happy it is blooming- they are all over it as are the butterflies.
I think this is a subtle yet sweet little grass, the 'Blonde Ambition' as they call it.  Odd name but I like the grass.
And to finish it off a picture of my little Yucca pallida showing off - that bed is coming along- everything in there is so happy.  Can't wait for the Beach Vitex to bloom!!
