What's New and Blooming Today!

echeveria
I say it all the time- you just never know here what the weather is going to do.  A few weeks ago we had a few days of freezing weather and yesterday it was upper 70's and incredible.  I love the cold weather though because that is when I get to plant Cyclamen!
cyclamen
I love this plant- have forever.  It comes in a variety of colors and I like them all but if I had to pick a color I prefer the most it would be the red.  It looks pretty as a single plant in a little pot, mixed with other plants in a pot for that pop of color or planted in mass.

cyclamen
It is bright and cheery and loves the cold weather.  Sadly, here in Texas once we heat up it goes away…. But you have plenty of time to enjoy it then you get to plant something else!  I still can't believe Christmas is next week.  Time goes entirely too fast.  I have posted a few photos of things that look good here around the nursery and that are blooming.
iceberg rose
The Iceberg Rose never disappoints.  Such a crisp white and beautiful big fat full blooms.
hot lips salvia
The 'Hot Lips' Salvia is loving these sunny days.  Such a funny name for a plant I think.
It has been amazing weather these past few days.  The nursery looks amazing I think.  Supposedly we are going to get some rain starting tomorrow for a few days - why do I say supposedly… cause just cause they say it on the news, doesn't make it rain……  Hopefully we will get some though.
I am loving this weather though- did I mention that?
Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season and sorry I haven't posted much- where does the time go?????

April GBBD 2013

Happy GBBD April 2013!
It has been a cactus fest lately- they are blooming left and right!!
trichocereus hybrid
Such vibrant colors- pinks, yellows, reds....
trichocereus hybrid
The blooms are so big- that's what I love about them, but then, the little ones pack a lot of punch too- see below....
cactus bloom
This one little cactus cracked me up- looks like it's a smiley face hahaha
He's all of 6 inches tall but a really heavy bloomer- every day this week had one to five blooms on him.
I just was partial to the smiley face.
texas betony
The Texas Betony is blooming away.  I put some in the front bed and it is doing just fine blooming away.  Tough little guys that I think don't get a lot of attention but they are pretty.
helen borcher peach
The Helen Borcher Peaches have started blooming this week, well, I guess they started last week but didn't look photo ready until this week with all the wonderful rain we have had.  Yes, rain- we've gotten some this past week and it was fabulous!!!!
iceberg rose
The Icebergs continue to bloom away.
spanish lavender
The Spanish Lavender- oh the Spanish Lavender.  It is wonderful.
Covered in bees and smells divine.
Hope everyone is having a great GBBD!!!!

GBBD October 2011

 Happy Garden Bloggers Bloom Day!!!
The Leonotis is blooming away in the front bed.  I love it when they get two and three little "lion's heads" on them.  (They call it a Lion's Tail, but to me I think it should be a Lion's Head.....)
The Fairy Dusters seem happy- we just planted a new bed up earlier this week and this is in there and appears to be quite content.
The Mexican Flame Vine is such a bright and happy vine- on certain days the entire fence is a solid orange- LOVE IT!   This particular shot has some of the Purple Fountain Grass blooms in it- I planted one in that bed- hopefully it will last through the winter but if not I like the way it has looked in there the last few months and looking forward to enjoying it while I can.
The Mexican Bush Sage is blooming away- a good ol' standby.
I love the classic look of the Iceberg Rose.  It seems happy and thriving in the side bed.
The Bower Vine is taking off on the fence and blooming away.
The Butterfly Bush - what is there to say- there is no wonder that the vibrant purple attracts the butterflies.
The Bougainvillea is stunning and I love the variegated leaves on this variety.  Very unique.
The Thyrallis and the Mystic Spires Salvia looks so beautiful together.  They both are thriving in the front bed.
And without further ado- introducing Bosephus.  He joined us last week and at first Huey was not very polite but has seemed to leave him alone now.  I was about to put Huey in the corner!  I was told to "change up the environment in the tank" so I did and I do believe it helped.  Everyone seems to be getting along.
