I Never Quite Get Used to These.....

Sorry- I am not a baby, but I just don't quite ever get used to these.....
I mean, it's not like I run off screaming or anything,
I just don't want to pick him up and play with him if you know what I mean.
 He's just staring at me!!!
He was hanging out in the back on this tree art thing we are making.  When I was snapping his photo he began rocking back and forth.
I was worried I was scaring him, so I didn't take too many shots and left him alone.
So bizarre looking!!!!  No?

  1. They are the coolest! They look so prehistoric. Wonder what his rocking motion means...a threat perhaps?!

    1. I don't know but I didn't want to stress him out so I left. He is very cool looking- when he turns his head to look at you cracks me up.

  2. Their size coupled with their looks is a little scary but also fascinating. Not really something cuddly that makes you want to bring it home from the pound. He was probably warning you that if you took one more picture he would jump at you eating your camera and head all in one big gulp!

  3. I like their shape for some reason and do enjoy seeing them in the garden because they are so beneficial.

  4. Trivia question on our cruise. What is it that a mantis only has one of? It only has one ear which explains why it cocks its head on one side.

    1. Too funny they had a questions about that! How was the cruise?? One ear. Learn something new every day!! Makes sense. If I only had one ear I would keep turning my head to hear as well. Interesting!

  5. Even more freaky is how the wife eats her husband's head after mating. Still, praying mantises are fascinating insects.

  6. I like them better when they are at the small, little baby stage. When they get bigger, they start looking like a creature double feature horror movie I saw once.
